About Me

IMG_8101_Original.jpg

My name is Mykaela Orwig, and I am the doula behind Blessed Hope Doula Services. I became a certified birth doula in 2026, after studying birth work as a hobby for around 5 years. My journey to birth work began when I switched from hospital to home birth at 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby, in 2020, due to changing hospital regulations. As unexpected as this change was, it opened my eyes to the beauty of natural birth the way God designed it, and I became fascinated with all things natural pregnancy, birth, and postpartum! Since that time, I have had two more beautiful home births, and am excited to help other mamas in my area deliver their babies in the comfort and safety of their own spaces.

A bit about myself: I am a Christian first and foremost, and my desire is that my faith in Jesus Christ would be the driving force behind everything I do, including birth support. I am married to my best friend, Luke, and we have three little boys who make life very busy and very fun! We are deeply involved in our church home, and love to spend time with friends and family, which the Lord has richly blessed us with. Some hobbies I enjoy are calligraphy, playing instruments and singing, and antique shopping.

My family and I live in a rural area near Columbia, Missouri, and I can't wait to support home birth families in central Missouri!
